Baraja: "We want to dedicate the victory to the victims and those affected by the 'DANA'"
The coach previews the game against Real Betis
Kiat Lim, son of Valencia CF majority shareholder Peter Lim, is in Seville for the Copa del Rey final. He spoke with VCF Media ahead of the big day.
How will you experience the final in Seville?
We're going to experience it like any other fans. We're very excited to be here. We're going to experience the game and hope for a good result. We're obviously very happy with every victory for Valencia CF, and we suffer with every defeat, like any other fans. Of course, we dream of winning trophies, and we hope that is reflected in the result tomorrow. We hope to bring the cup back to Valencia.
What do you think of the atmosphere before the final?
I think that the atmosphere in Seville is incredible. I was at the cathedral today and I saw quite a lot of fans. The spirit is very good, they were chanting. We hope to bring the trophy back to Valencia to present it to the fans, because they deserve it.
How will your father, Peter Lim, take in the final?
I think that he is even more excited than I am about the game. He wakes up for every single game, be it 3am or 4am in Singapore. He watches every single game. I know that he is definitely going to be watching, and he will be experiencing it at the same time as us. Even though he can't be here, I hope to be here more often in the future to represent him.
How important is it to win the Copa el Rey?
It's a common goal. We want the cup and we want trophies, but there is also an element in which the club has (to be financially estable) to exist to win trophies. Valencia CF fans are very passionate, and we can see that in the atmosphere and on the roads today. It's an amazing feeling, how passionate the people of Valencia are. I get messages from them. At the end of the day, it's just because they are passionate and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm fine with it. Everybody just wants what’s best for the club. Like I say, everybody is entitled to different opinions. They aren't wrong, but we all have the same common goal of making the club successful. We have to stick together, and all we want is success for the club -just like everybody else.
We hope to repeat the trophy win at La Cartuja, together with the fans, as one big family. Win or lose, we will always be there for the club, together. I hope everybody enjoys the game. Amunt Valencia CF.
